Who is Mapa Health and how does the clinic coordination work?

Mapa Health is a medical travel coordinator based in Istanbul that connects international patients with licensed partner clinics. We are not a hospital ourselves — we coordinate the entire journey: medical pre-screening, clinic booking, travel and hotel, English-speaking patient coordination, and follow-up care. Treatment is provided in Turkish-accredited hospitals (JCI-certified or equivalent) by licensed specialists registered with the Turkish Medical Chamber (Türk Tabipler Birliği).

Which accreditations and safety standards apply to partner clinics?

Mapa Health works exclusively with hospitals that hold international accreditations (JCI, ISO 9001, or equivalent) and are licensed by the Turkish Ministry of Health. Surgeons must be specialists with a Turkish Medical Chamber license and at least 5 years of post-specialization experience. These standards are verified before every recommendation.

How is communication in English handled?

Patient coordination is conducted entirely in English — from the first WhatsApp inquiry through to follow-up care. At each partner clinic, at least one English-speaking physician or qualified interpreter is available. Surgical consent forms, the treatment report, and the post-op care guide are provided in English — important for follow-up with your home physician.

What happens in case of medical complications during my stay?

All partner clinics have 24/7 emergency infrastructure (ICU, on-call emergency surgery, cardiopulmonary resuscitation). In the event of complications, the operating surgeon is directly reachable; if needed, a transfer to a specialized emergency clinic is arranged. The Mapa Health hotline is available 24/7 in English throughout your entire stay.

How is data protection handled during my medical consultation?

Mapa Health is subject to Turkish data protection law (KVKK, equivalent to EU GDPR). Medical data is transmitted encrypted and shared only with authorized clinic partners. WhatsApp communication is end-to-end encrypted. A written privacy declaration and consent form are obtained before treatment planning begins.

What about hotel, transfer, and logistics?

Standard package includes: 5-star hotel near the clinic (Levent / Maslak / district depending on clinic), round-trip airport transfer, clinic-hotel transfer for every appointment, English-speaking escort on request. For companions we can upgrade hotel rooms and arrange city activities for waiting periods. Everything is confirmed in writing before travel.

How can I build trust before traveling?

We recommend: a free online video consultation, review of the clinic accreditation and surgeon license, contact with former English-speaking patients (GDPR-compliant with consent), a written treatment plan with all inclusions, and a clear written warranty agreement. Anyone demanding rapid booking pressure or cash advance payments is not reputable.

How is collaboration with my home-country physician handled?

We recommend speaking with your home physician before traveling — some primary care doctors support overseas treatment, others do not. Mapa Health provides all documentation before travel (treatment plan, pre-op assessment) and after treatment a complete report (operative report, material manufacturer, post-op care guide) — these documents are the bridge to follow-up care at home.
