A wax-up is a simulation of the final treatment result on a plaster model, which is designed by our technician based on photos and the digital treatment plan. During the second treatment session, the wax-up simulation with a temporary plastic composite is transferred to the patient’s mouth in order to further visualize the treatment result. The patient immediately gets a first impression of the veneers. Therefore, minor changes and requests can be taken into account prior to treatment. If the simulation is not yet satisfactory, a new wax-up is made. Treatment only begins when the patient and dentist are completely satisfied. As a decisive advantage, a mock-up offers the possibility of minimally invasive preparation (grinding) or even a non-invasive procedure. In addition, phonetics (pronunciation) and function are checked.
